Serves: makes 8 - 10 Bhaturas

Ingredients


Flour (maida) - 2 cups

Baking powder - 1/2 tsp

Baking soda - a pinch

Yogurt - 1/2  - 3/4 cup

Salt - to taste

Oil - as required for deep frying

Preparation Method


Sieve together flour, baking powder and baking soda into a large bowl.

Add salt to it.

Then add yogurt little by little and knead the flour for few minutes to a smooth dough.

The dough is supposed to be slightly sticky, but add a little four if the dough is too sticky.

Cover the dough with a wet paper towel / damp cloth and keep aside for about 2 hours in a warm place.

Divide the dough into equal portions and make medium sized balls and roll them out into slightly thick round shape of about 4 inches in diameter. (Because the dough is sticky, sprinkle flour on the rolling board while rolling the dough to make it easy to roll)

Heat oil in a pan and when it gets hot, deep fry the bhaturas one by one (pressing down slightly with the back of a ladle will make the bhatturas puff up) till light golden colour on both sides.

Transfer this to a paper towel to remove excess oil.

Serve hot with Chana Masala.
