Fried Coconut Chammanthi (thick form)  ratingratingratingrating

Serves: 4

Ingredients


Grated coconut - 1 cup (see the measurements here)

Onion - 1 medium, 150 gms

Urad dal (uzhunnu parippu) - 1 tsp

Crushed dry red chilli - 1 tsp

Tamarind (seedless) - 1/4 th of a small lemon size

Salt - to taste

Oil - 1 Tbsp

Preparation Method


Heat oil in a frying pan.

Add urad dal and saute for a while.

Add onion and grated coconut. Saute till coconut starts to turn light golden in colour (Dont have to wait till the coconut completely turns brown in colour)

Now turn the flame to very low and add red chilli flakes. Saute for more seconds.

Then turn the flame off and let it cool.

Grind along with a little water, salt and tamarind.

Fried coconut chutney is ready to be served.

It goes well with Dosa or Idli.



Note:

You can adjust the amount of tamarind according to your taste.
