Puri / Fried Wheat Bread  

Preperation Time: 20 min.

Cooking Time: 15 min.

Serves: makes about 10 puris.


Atta (wheat flour) - 2 cups

Rawa / Semolina / Sooji - 1 tsp

Salt - to taste

Water - as required

Oil - as required for deep frying

Preparation Method

Knead the wheat flour into a thick dough with salt, water and rawa(rawa or sooji helps the poori to remain fluffy for a longer time).Apply oil in your hands to smoothen the kneading.

Keep it aside for 30 minutes.

Make small balls out of it and roll into small circles on a medium thickness. (Do NOT make it too thin)

Heat 1/4 cup of oil in a deep pan and when it gets hot, slowly slide the puri from the side of the pan.

When it puffs up, turn it over and fry for few seconds.

Puri should be light creamy brown on both sides.

Place puri on a kitchen towel to remove excess oil.

Serve hot with potato masala.
