Unakka Mulaku Chammanthi / Dry Red Chilli Chutney (thick form)

Ingredients


Dry red chillies - 5

Shallots (kunjulli) - 8

Tamarind seedles - a tiny piece

Curry leaves - few

Salt - to taste

Oil - 2 tsp

Preparation Method


Heat 1 tsp of oil in a pan and saute dry red chillies and curry leaves till dry chillies turns dark brown (make sure that you dont burn the chillies) and keep aside.

Saute shallots in the same pan till it turns golden brown.

Grind dry red chillies, curry leaves and shallots along with tamarind to a paste without adding water.

Transfer it to a bowl and mix 1 tsp of oil.

Let it stand for 5 minutes for the flavours to set in.

This chammanthi is very spicy.

It goes well with Tapioca (kappa).
