A quick and easy curry which goes well with rice.

It is of my favourite curries from my best friend’s cooking repository. I loved it whenever she made it.  I hope you will have the same experience..Enjoy!

Preperation Time: 20 min.

Cooking Time: 25 min.

Serves: 4


Lady finger / Okra / Vendakka - 1/2 kg (cut lengthwise)

Green chilli - 4 (slitted) or to taste

Onion - 2 (sliced)

Curry leaves - 1 stem

Coriander powder - 1 1/2 tsp

Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp

Salt - to taste

Oil - as required

Coconut milk - 2 cups, I used Maggi Coconut Milk Powder to make coconut milk.

For seasoning

Oil - 1 Tbsp

Shallots (kunjulli) - 4 (sliced)

Curry leaves- 1 stem

Preparation Method

In a pan add oil and add vendakka and fry till it turns light golden brown in colour. Keep aside.

In the same oil add onion, green chilli, curry leaves and saute for 2 - 3 minutes.

Add turmeric powder, coriander powder and saute for a minute ( under a low flame) or  till the raw smell disappears.

Then add coconut milk and okra / vendakka, stir well and cook with lid closed for about 5 minutes.

Add salt and turn the flame off.

In another small pan, heat oil and splutter mustard seeds.

Add shallots and saute till shallots turn golden brown in colour.

Add curry leaves and saute for a while.

Pour this seasoning into the curry and mix well.

Serve hot with rice..
